Mojácar And Cabo De Gata Natural Park
Cabo de Gata Natural Park, in the southeastern corner of Spain is Andalusias largest coastal protected area, a wild and isolated landscape with some of Europe and oldest geological features. In 1997 it was designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. In 2001 it was included among the Specially Protected Areas of Mediterranean Importance. Old salty fields, impressive views and unique landscape are awaiting for you in this experience. Mojácar stretches along a hill in the spurs of Sierra Cabrera. A legacy from the Arabs, the city centre still has a peculiar layout of narrow streets, secluded corners, and terraces that were dug on the side of the hill as if they were steps. It’s a typical “White houses” village from Andalusia which is going to open up all your senses.
ITINERARY
From the Almería Cruise Terminal we will take a vehicle in order to go to Mojácar. In this beautiful village we will walk through its narrow streets discovering hidden vantage points and typical buildings from centuries ago. Visiting the inside of a “white house” is included, so you get to know how people have lived in this area for a long time. Some free time will be given to explore the town or relax at the terraces. From there we are moving to Cabo de Gata Natural park, enjoying a panoramic ride through the marvelous landscape and doing a photo stop at the beautiful spot of Isleta del Moro. We keep on going through the park up to the Interpretation Center of Amoladeras, where you will have a clearer idea of all the animals and plants that can be found in this special ecosystem. Then, we will continue our tour until we arrive at the long beach and salt pans of Cabo de Gata, where we will stop so you can take great pictures of the area. After that we will go back to the cruise terminal.
